Acrylics and mixed media painting with Jo Perkins 21st May 2024
This class is perfect for those who live in a different time zone or couldn’t join the class on the 21st May 2024
All levels are welcome.
Please scroll along the pictures to see close up’s of the real flowers we painted - you will need to have access to these during the class so take screen shots or print them out.
Materials list from Jo….
Acrylic Paint
I use just five tubes of paint in my practice and I will be sharing top tips at getting to the colours you are looking for! I use Daler Rowney/Liquitex Basics as an affordable option but Liquitex and Golden all work well at the pricier end of the scale. Cyan - For some brands, you can't get hold of cyan so I use Phthalo Blue (green shade) instead.Magenta - some brands will call it quinacridone magenta. Yellow - any of the warmer yellows are fine. My favourite is cadmium yellow medium hue as it makes warmer colour mixes.Black - any of the blacks are fine.Titanium White
Brushes
Use whatever you have to hand but ideally including a small, medium and largish (1inch) brush.
Paper
A cheaper sketchbook is perfect for warm ups then I recommend at least a couple of sheets of thicker paper so we can get stuck in with other media. I often use thick A3/A4 watercolour or mixed media paper with a smooth surface. Ideally 300gsm but 250gsm would be fine.
Mixing Media
In this session, you are welcome to have any media to hand you would like to add (or none at all!) but in my practice I like to use:
Stabilo Woody 3 in 1 crayons
Inktense pencils
Posca/acrylic markers
Black pen like a biro/ball pen
Paint palette
